CTG is happy to report Travel Demand and Analytics staff contributions to several publications over the last year. In May 2020, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) released the final publication of NCHRP 934: Traffic Forecasting Accuracy Assessment Research. This project examined the accuracy of traffic forecasts around the country, and also provides a bevy of materials that agencies can use to evaluate the accuracy of their own traffic forecasts. Dave Schmitt, CTG’s Director of Travel Modeling and Analytics, was the co-Principal Investigator, and many other staff members made significant contributions, including Sujith Rapolu, Kyeongsu Kim and Jawad Mahmud Hoque.
Additionally, CTG’s 2020 summer intern, Jawad Mahmud Hoque, was the lead author of two recent journal articles resulting from our NCHRP 934 work:
• “The Changing Accuracy of Traffic Forecasts” was published in the Transportation journal in February 2021
• “Estimating the Uncertainty of Traffic Forecasts from Their Historical Accuracy” was published in Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice in April 2021
