Central Florida Regional Planning Model version 6.2

CTG staff are part of the consultant team alongside the Florida Department of Transportation staff to improve the Central Florida Regional Planning Model’s (CFRPM’s) modeling capabilities. Several structural and application improvements were made in version 6.2. The improvements included developing a sub area analysis tool, updates to reports generated for region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), developing standards for zone size and fidelity, assessing the trip generation rates, and developing a methodology to incorporate the Florida Turnpike Enterprise’s Express Lane Time of Day model.

Since the model was to be used for developing project level traffic forecasts for the I-4 Beyond the Ultimate corridor, the team refined CFRPM by assessing the potential diversion routes and markets and validated the regional model to AM and PM peak period conditions. The team used innovative-to-Florida approaches that incorporated non-traditional data into the validation metrics, including HERE speed data and AirSage trip data.
