St. Paul Gold Line BRT Corridor Traffic and Ridership Analysis

CTG is part of the Project Management Consulting team responsible for guiding Gold Line BRT project through CIG’s Full Funding Grant Application process. The project is currently in FTA’s Project Development phase and is scheduled to be operational in 2024. CTG is leading all technical tasks related to travel demand modeling. FTA’s Simplified Trips on Project Software (STOPS) is being used to estimate transit ridership. To assist in the development of Environmental document, CTG is utilizing Met Council’s Activity Based Model (ABM) to forecast future year traffic volumes along roadways near the proposed BRT stations.

As part of the process, CTG coordinated with team members and local agencies in updating the model inputs to latest understanding of local municipalities. The updates to corridor’s land use assumptions warranted running population synthesis routine, PopGen, to update person and household characteristics data input to ABM. CTG provided volume forecasts for detailed traffic operational analysis within schedule that included several updates to model data as project assumptions evolved through the Project Development process.
